Ok so on Tuesday the new patch (called the "Echoes of Doom") preparing for the Wrath of the Lich King came out. It was huge! The login screen looks amazing now (especially if you loved that skeleton dragon from the trailer that I was so excited about). There's an amazing looking ice castle in the background and a really cool bridge covered in big curvey spikes. The cool skeleton dragon comes flying from the back near the castle and flies overhead shortly before coming to land to the right of the login boxes. Cool things that came along with the fun new dragon login screen include the new Inscription Profession, new haircuts available for a small amount of gold, and loads of new spells and talent trees. You can check out Wowhead's section about the Inscription profession here and see all the amazing goodness that comes with it (this should somewhat explain why the prices are jacked up insanely for herbs right now :D ).
Along with the new Inscription profession came a few new abilities for the gathering professions. Herbalists now get the move Lifeblood, which lets the user heal itself by clicking it when you're around earthy things (fun flowers shoot up from the ground to heal you). Also, if you wondered what the benefit of pounding away all day at ore nodes was, then here's a new spell for you. It's called Toughness and the final rank increases your maximum health by 500. That's not bad at all :D . There's also a fun new spell for skinners called Master of Anatomy which ultimately increases your critical strike rating by 25. I especially love it's explanation for why it does this. "Skinning all those dead animals has broadened your anatomical knowledge, increasing your critical strike rating by 25," lol :D .
As far as new spells go, I can only vouch for Locks, Mages, and Pallys for the moment seeing as how I haven't tweaked with the other classes. Locks have a new spell down the demonology tree that's called Metamorphosis that lets you turn into a demon. Finally! I've been saying they should give Locks a demon form that lets them fly similar to how druids can change into a bird, (that and let priests grow angel wings that let them fly) since flying mounts were created. You can't fly with this demon form but it's still cool anyways. This spell is pretty awesome seeing as how just one of the things it does in its final version is increase your armor by 600%.
As for Mages, they have a hilarious new fire spell at the bottom of their talent tree. It's called Living Bomb and it's very similar to Seed of Corruption. Basically the targeted person ends up taking a lot of fire damage and eventually exploding *KABOOM* causing fire damage to all enemies with 10 yards of themselves lol. The only bad thing is that you can't use it on more than one person at the same time ;) .
Paladins everywhere will be confused by the addition of 2 more Judgements to their list of spells but hopefully will learn to love it like I do. These additional spells let the Pally keep up their blessings for about 2 mins and then they can choose whether to heal themselves, slow the attacker and prevent them from running or regain mana by using each different Judgement. I'm betting Pallys will be nerfed in a few days though because they seem overpowered even when you're playing with one. There is an amazing new spell down the Protection tree called Hammer of Righteousness that let's you "Hammer the current target and up to 2 additional nearby targets, causing 3 times your main hand damage per second as Holy damage." It's freaking amazing :D . Also, if you haven't checked out the new Death Knight talent trees you really should.
Don't forget that Hallow's End starts today as noted by the new amazing ingame calendar system (which will most likely make me never visit their main site again haha).
