Samuel Jackson's gonna be wearing that eyepatch for awhile

There's good news for Marvel fans everywhere, even if you don't like Samuel Jackson (He's a lot better than David Hasslehoff imo). Variety announced yesterday that Samuel has signed on to be Nick Fury in Iron Man 2 as well as possibly being in another 9 Marvel films. There's been some drama between Marvel and Samuel since he didn't want to come back for a 2nd Iron Man even though he's been in much stupider movies. Rumors have been going around that Marvel's been trying to underpay their actors, so that's probably why. Anyway, fans are speculating what these 9 movies will be, although some of the major theories involve films about Captain America, Thor, The Avengers and The Shield (DUH!). None of these movies are super exciting to me, but I'm sure they'll still be mildly entertaining.

In order to speculate better about what movies Marvel plans on making, I looked up Nick Fury's appearance history. He does have a lot of appearances in the X-men storyline, which makes me even more sad that they've already made a huge flop trilogy out of it. I guess there's a possibility of Fury showing up in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, especially because of the recent mention of re-shoots. Going along with that, I'm sure Nick Fury ran into Magneto and Professor X back in the day too. So, maybe Fury will also make an appearance in X-Men Origins: Magneto that's currently planned for 2011 (even though there's not a green light on it yet). Personally I'm all for the new X-Men movies, so any news about further Marvel movies is good news :D.

Bone claws and explodey comets make for sweet theater trailers

I really need to go see a movie in theaters. It's been awhile since I've been, so I've had to rely on the internet to see the leaked theater trailers for Transformers 2 and X-men Origins. I also didn't want to post about the trailers w/out having a high quality video to put up though, (that and I've been studying for midterm after midterm) so now I have 2 to share. The first one is the new X-men Origins trailer and it shows some pretty intense images of Wolverine during the surgery. It also shows little Logan with bone claws coming out of his hands. To be honest, I didn't even know that he had bone claws at all. I just assumed it was an addition to the metal skeleton surgery. I had to look it up on Wikipedia and sure enough, it's true. As the movie progresses, you get to see quite a bit of Gambit and it looks like the pretty much unknown actor playing him is going to do a good job. You also get to see a snippet of Deadpool and way more of The Blob than anyone ever wanted to see.

The 2nd trailer is an extended version of the Transformers 2 trailer that played during the Superbowl. There's a longer intro in the beginning that shows all the explodey death comets that are the Transformers falling from space. You can also see a lot more transformers in this one, like Arcee when she's split up into 3 motorcycles. You also get to see Devastator going absolutely insane smashing up bridges and everything in sight. I mostly love the end of the trailer when the words "Revenge is coming" form out of the little metal shards and then the Decepticon symbol forms out of those same metal shards. It just looks really cool :D.

One of the only good Superbowl Commercials

By now you've hopefully seen the official Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen preview that premiered during the Superbowl. The high quality version is pretty amazing looking, even though not much of the actual plot of the movie is given away. I think I mentioned awhile back that there was a ring on Megan Fox's finger and there's a close up shot of it now (at about 17s in) as she's clutching her hand to her mouth. This means that Sam and Mikaela are most likely engaged *vomit*. Anyway, it looks like that army guy from the first movie is returning and there's also a random guy standing next to Mikaela while she's screaming "SAM!" I found something odd on imdb though. Jazz appears to be back even though he was "killed" in the first movie. He is being voiced by Darius McCrary again so I'm not sure if he's really coming back or if imdb is just being crazy and forgot he died. I guess it is called "Revenge of the Fallen" so it's possible Jazz comes back somehow since I'm sure that Megatron will also make a reappearance because every transformers fan knows that Megatron never stays dead.

But, the good news is that there is a really cool cat-looking transformer (around 10s in) in the trailer that's like leaping/stalking through the water. It's probably Ravage seeing as how his form was a black panther in Beast Wars. Hopefully Ravage will be somewhat of a bounty hunter like he was in Beast Wars. That would make the movie very entertaining, and it would make a lot of sense since he came after Megatron in Beast Wars. Currently Transformers 2 scheduled for release on June 26, so I'm sure more and more news about it will be leaking out now that it's only about 4 months away.
